We work hard at the BriarPatch! Our team consists of our preschool teaching team, our family support centre and counselling team, our admin team and our sweet, dedicated volunteers.
For the Community Preschool, we are fortunate to have 2 full time employees. Our lead teacher is Miss Meghan, who began with us in 2011. Over the 10 years Meghan has been at our Centre, she has grown our little preschool program with innovative and engaging curriculum. This has gained her 2 prestigious awards: a Provincial Award recognizing her true commitment to preschool children and families in 2015. In the Fall of 2020, Meghan was awarded the Prime Minister's Award of Excellence in Teaching. We are proud to have Miss Meghan as our Lead Teacher.
An addition to our teaching team for the Fall of 2023 (but not to our preschool) is Angela, as our new Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistant. She has spent time in our classroom in the past, working with children with identified needs, and this was a natural fit to have her join the teaching team. Welcome Angela to the BriarPatch!
Since the Fall of 2012, Miss Meghan has been supported in the classroom by Miss Chynna. Recently, she began to pursue her post secondary education but she has not left the BriarPatch completely. Chynna will still be part of our team, working behind the scenes to keep our Centre running smoothly, and she'll fill in as our substitute ECE Teaching Assistant.
We have grown our Family Supports and Counselling team at the BriarPatch! Watch for updates coming soon with bios on all staff members.
The BriarPatch Family Life Education Centre is very volunteer driven. From parents (and grandparents!) in the preschool classroom, to program facilitators like Colleen and Jessie, and Board Members like Dustin, Chelsey, Nicole, Lindsey, Sheri and Parker, our staff and participants are well supported by engaged and creative individuals who give their time, expertise and energy to the BriarPatch. We love our volunteers!!
What do volunteers do at the BriarPatch? We welcome community members who wish to help in the following ways:
* co-facilitate group programming with our H.E.A.R.T.S. Baby Loss Support Program ~ training provided
* special events like our Annual Baby Steps Walk to Remember and our Annual Candle Light Memorial Service
* helping out in our community preschool with activities/organization
* helping out with Social Media and promotion as we grow our centre
Interested in learning more? We'd love to hear from you if you're looking for a great place to volunteer! All volunteers are screened, then trained and supported during their time in our centre. Please send along a note on our "Contact Us" page if you wish to learn more about helping out with our growing and diverse community centre programming.
